After the regular Shrine Time in July the idea from the young people was born that after the next Shrine Time we should do something a little special – a social bonfire afterwards with roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate! This idea was quickly put into action with a new flyer for Shrine Time for the month of August being created and labelled as Shrine Time – Winter Special!
There were about 25 young people who attended this Winter Special Shrine Time. The shrine was full on this evening as some families who were simply just visiting the Shrine also stayed for adoration of the blessed Sacrament. Some people also chose to sit on the benches outside and enjoy the music that was radiating out of the shrine. Fr Pawel OP was kept quite busy on this evening as well, with many of the young people taking up the invitation to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, which is always a true blessing.
Afterwards we gathered the benches around the fire pit and sat directly in front of the shrine. It was such a joyful and peaceful atmosphere. Stories were shared, music was played and laughter and joy filled the evening. Even though not everyone knew each other at the beginning, by the end of the evening there was such a beautiful community spirit amongst all who were there. The fact that many of the young people stayed to help with packing up was very much appreciated. There was a great resonance amongst everyone that we should do this Winter Special once again!
